Belgrade FOOD BANK is a non-governmental, humanitarian organisation founded in late 2006, which works towards diminishing poverty in Serbia and taking part in fight against hunger and food waste.

The Food Bank activities are based on the idea of sharing and donations, as well as promoting solidarity amongst the citizens and showing that together we can be in service of those who need our help.

We appeal to all potential sponsors for financial support to the Food Bank in order to establish suitable infrastructure, which will allow sustainability of the Organisation and continuity of efficient work in collecting basic food items from donors and their distribution to socially destitute population. At the end of December, Food bank distributed 315 kg of basic food goods, as well as sweets for the children, to the Single Mothers Association “Suncokret” from Loznica. The donation was provided by the donor companies within the action organized by Delta Maxi Group, as well as the food collected by Societe Generale Banka Srbija employees.

In regard to the New Year holidays, a donation of 100 kg of sweets and juices was delivered to 60 pupils of the elementary school “Milos Crnjanski” in Novi Kozjak. These donations were provided by the donor companies within the action organized by Delta Maxi Group, as well as the food collected by Societe Generale Banka Srbija employees. Also, 15 kg of corn flakes, as complement to the packages, were donated to the Office for helping the disables, in Belgrade.

A donation of fruits and vegetables, apples and cabbage, from the Princess Katarina Foundation, Food bank distributed to the Shelter for the adults and elderly in Kumodraz, on December, 21.

At urgent requests from the Municipality Palilula, the Food bank distributed food packages to three special cases of socially vulnerable families, total quantity of 88 kg, from different donor companies within the action organized by Delta Maxi Group, as well as the food collected by Societe Generale Banka Srbija employees.

A donation of 44 kg of basic food goods, was distributed to the Association of war invalids Vozdovac, as well from different donor companies within the action organized by Delta Maxi Group.

On December 11, Food bank distributed 15kg of cakes from donor company Aleksandrija and 60 jars of honey (15kg) from donor company Biomed Group to the Elementary School “Sava Jovanovic”- Sirogojno from Zemun, to their 60 pupils in a full day shift.

The same day, the charity organization “Decije Srce” from Belgrade, which is taking care during the day of the children with some light mental disorders, was donated a part of the donation, 8 kg of honey provided by the company Biomed Group, as well as 15kg of cakes, a part of the donation, provided by the company Aleksandrija.

On the 10.12.09, Food bank distributed 150kg of soya flakes, a part of the donation provided by the company VICTORIA Group - Novi Sad, to the Home for the children and adults with mental problems “Dr.Nikola Sumenkovic” from Stamnica, close to Petrovac.

As well, to the Association for mentally challenged children “Zivimo zajedno” from Belgrade, to their 75 members in a full day shift, a donation of 30kg of soya flakes by the company VICTORIA Group - Novi Sad, was distributed as well as 10 kg of cakes and 9 kg of pasta food from the companies Aleksandrija and Trampex.

On the 10.12.09, the Food bank organized a small Reception, for companies, banks, and individuals who, in their own way, as sponsors, donors, and volunteers have contributed to the Food bank activities and thereby helped a large number of vulnerable persons.

Among many donors, we thanked also LIDO catering services for indulging our guests during this Reception of the End of the Year as well as the volunteers of the company E-75 IT services for creating and updating our website.

On December 3rd, 2009, FB distributed a donation of 750 kg of basic goods to the Association of multiple-sclerosis patients from New Belgrade. The donation was provided by many company-donors within the action organized in cooperation with Delta Maxi Group.
