The Easter holidays action of collecting and distribution of the products is the first action by The FOOD BANK - Belgrade, a non-profit, nongovernmental organization founded in September 2006.  The FOOD BANK - Belgrade operates according the already confirmed concept of activities which Food banks successfully apply all over Europe for more than two decades, in cooperation with the European Federation of the Food Banks (FEBA). Its goal is to get involved into the fight against hunger and poverty which strike at least 20% of the population in Serbia, through collecting and distributing the food products. In collecting food, the Bank cooperates with the enterprises (from the field of agriculture, industry, wholesale, retail sale...) which can donate their products, surpluses, or can buy food in case they do not deal with its production and trading.

In the following period, The FOOD BANK - Belgrade will continue to collect the victuals for the Soup kitchen in Smederevo, for the other institutions which work with imperiled citizens, as well as with collecting financial means for the needs of administrating the organization. In May, The FOOD BANK - Belgrade will also organize food collecting in supermarkets when the bigger number of citizens will have the occasion to get included in helping their imperiled co-citizens by buying products.

The FOOD BANK - Belgrade, The Special Institute Dr Nikola Šumenković and the Soup Kitchen in Smederevo are grateful to the donators who participated in this action. The food bank is also grateful to the friend of the project, the OM Ogilvy Belgrade agency and takes the occasion to invite the other companies - particularly those who deal with production and trading of the basic victuals (flower, sugar, oil) as well as the enterprises which are able to help it financially - to join them in this responsible task in fight against hunger and thus show that they consider important the community in which they successfully manage their companies.
